get beefier brackets - buy 'em or fab 'em yourself, cut the old pos stock brackets off and weld on new ones with thisck ass beads and a truss. that's what i'd do.

RE has some good beefy bracket sets for sale a freind got some and said they were pretty stout compared to stock.

I just had to fix all my front ones and just rewelded the seems and beefed them up as best i could.

If you weld it back on and add a small traingle shaped gusset on the out board side it will hold up to most anything.
So far a year and a half later mines doing just fine.

I just broke my upper control arm mount...

I had the same thing happen to me this weekend. I was driving across town and when I pulled away from a stop sign, the back end of the jeep would twist and feel like it was trying to move to the left. When I would decelerate, the rear end would then feel like it was moving to the right. I felt like I was driving on ice and the rear end was breaking loose. After crawling underneath, I noticed that the upper control arm mount on the driver's side had cracked or ripped. The weld didn't break, but the mount actually ripped about 1 inch above the weld on the axle. I searched many different sites to find out about new mounting brackets and I did find one site that sells them from $42/bracket. After talking to a friend that owns a steel and fabricating company, he suggested hauling the rig to his shop and he would have a welder stay late and fix it this week. He suggested just welding the broken mount and adding a plate to it to strengthen it up. I am going to re-weld all the joints and add plates to all the mounting brackets while I am at it. All the labor should cost me less than $80 bucks and then I may even spring for an allignment since I believe it has been screwed up because of this.

What did you decide to do with your broken mount?
