Was under the pickup yesterday doing a test fit of my BudBuilt crossmember yesterday, discovered that the rubber has pulled away from the bottom plate in my tranny/transfer mount. That explains why the stick wobbles so badly when I let out the clutch. Must be all that torque from the stock 22R.

Is there a better replacement out there somewhere? Maybe a polyurethane one? Or should I just stop by the dealer and order a new OEM one?

If I remember correctly, my friend payed about $45 for a new one from the dealer. I would try to find a used one.

The issue in our area is the rust actually seperates the rubber from the steel. So junkyard ones are "usually" not in much shape. As for upgrades, the 87-88 versions of the 4 cyl mount have much more rubber but are a direct bolt on. I know that AutoZone carries them, but not sure the price.

I'm swapping an R151 into my 80 to replace a shot W50.

My mounts arent in that great a shape either.......

I just called Autozone, & they say they can order one for $76.99.......

What is up with them? Seems like half the time I call them for Toyota parts, they dont have them & cant get them either......
Couple days ago, I called for a turbo clutch and a vacuum advance for a 22R, said they couldnt get either one, but yet they can get TRANNY MOUNTS!!??.....

Around here, Autozone is about the cheapest when they can get stuff, so I would expect to pay a little more anywhere else.....

Let me know where you get one Ken, & how much.

I'm not that keen on AutoZone parts, especially their "lifetime guarantee" stuff. I bought a $20 master cylinder from them for the pickup awhile ago, it now has a very slow leak that has peeled all the POR15 off my booster.

Personally, I'd rather pay a few more bucks and get OEM. And Bud is right, anything that I'm likely to get from junkyard around here is probably gonna be pretty rusty and won't last long.

I'll let you know how much the dealer gets for one.

I need one for my 83. Can't get em in Canada other than dealer, $145. Thinking about driving to NWOR. They list them in there catalog for around $73. Ya I know, don't deal with these guys, but I find the parts for the oldies are hard to come by

Bummer! I hope I dont have to start dealing with them to get parts for my 80........If only because they are DEFINATELY on the other side of the country for me, let alone their reputation!

Are you sure that the 1st gen & 2nd gen arent interchangable?

I took a look at the one from my 80 right next to one from my 86, and they looked pretty much the same.....At least the 4 holes that bolt to the tranny looked like the same pattern....Didnt really check the xmember side.

OEM/ think about5 the one hat is broken has more then likely been on there for 17 years. Stay away from NWOR unless it is an OEM that they are selling, more then likely not! Or you can get the FROR X-Member. http://www.frontrangeoffroadfab.com/crossmember.htm

Interesting... stopped by the dealer this morning, the OEM mount is $92 (list), my price will be $74. So I went down to NAPA to see what they could get, their price was $96.

Same deal with rear wheel bearings, OEM are $54 each, NAPA wants $65 each.

Guess I'm heading back to the dealer again tomorrow.
