Yes they do have a c6 that bolts up to a 351w. I bought a spare that came from a 87 F250 that had a 351. My 82 bronco also came with one. From your post it sounds like he has a 351w in his truck. Are you sure its a 351w cause in 70 they all had the modified motors. If he does have a 351w any small block C6 should bolt up and any one that has a 300 6cyl, 302 or 351w will have the same bolt pattern.

thank you all that have responded, and in response to the question if it is actually a windsor motor, yes it is, we swapped it in last year in place of the 300 that was previously there.

thanks again

the 351W is a small block.... so any C6 from a 351W, 302, 300, etc will bolt up.

The 351M is a big block so any 351M, 390, 400, 460 etc will bolt up.

I believe a 351C is considered a BB, but I honestly don't know.

Yep, all small blocks,302, 351W and the 300 6 cyl C6 trannies will bolt right up. 78-79 you will find them in the 6 cyl motors. Even up to 85 in the 6's they used the C6.

As stated the 351C is a small block and shares the 302 bell.

Show me a 390 that bolts where a 460 is. The 390 is a "Y" block and part of the FE family. They have a diffrent bell pattern.

Actually FE motors and Y blocks are two entirely different engine families. FEs consisted of the 352, 360, 390, 427, and 428cj and scj there was also a 401 or something like that. Y blocks were, I think, 292 and 312(early T-Bird) there might have been more. The Windsors (289, 302 and 351) and 240 and 300 sixes and the 351C all share the same bell housing bolt pattern. The Ms (351 and 400) and the 370, 429 and 460s share the same pattern. The FEs and Y blocks are all by themselves.;)
