A friend showed up with his '90 Hilux double cab. I swapped a low milage 3L diesel and added a turbo and intercooler some 3 years back into his vehicle. He drove 50.000 km with this setup.
Says he parked the car, came back in 5 min., fired her up and heard a terrible scream from under the hood. He opened it up and wreckoned the noise came from the engine.
He drove straight to my place (some 20 miles) so I could listen to it.
Now: HOW MUCK LUCK DO THE IGNORANT HAVE???
This is what I found:

This is the belt:

The cause: cam belt tension spring (right upper side, got so hot it melted through the plastic)

Yep, shredded belt all over the place.
He does have a cell phone and even a car kit, but I guess he left his brain at home.:D
What I like best is comments like: as soon as I heard a strange noise I drove home as fast as I could...
