Hello can anyboddy help me regarding to if the chassis is the same on the Sierra/samurai with plate spring and the Sierra/samurai that has ciolsprings?

Do anyboody now if theres any pictures on the net or a page where I can find out??

They are similar, but not the same. There are a considerable number of small differences that come out and grab you by the balls when you´re not looking.........

Questions for you.

We never got coil sprung Samurai/Sierras in the U.S. so I was
hoping you could answer a few questions.I believe the front
differential is high pinion,what are the gear ratios available?
Also,do you know what the spline count is for the front inner
axle shafts?

Mine used 3.909 gears standard , i could go out and look at the front diff pinion if it wasnt so dark out. i think its similiar to the new Jimny axle and could be wider than a widetrack samuri axle , it uses the old vitara rims as standard . I dont know why somebody cant send some of these stateside .

Yes, it´s a the front dif is high pinion, revese cut. The ratio is 3.91. I don´t remember the inner spline count, but IIRC it´s exactly the same as the older Samurais.

I´ve got both of my original axles gathering dust in my boat shed. That front high pinion was sweet, but I wanted more beef, so I went to Danas.......

If you´re refering to only the front diffs, yeah, there´s prolly some way to send them Stateside. If you´re talking about the newer Samurai as an entire vehicle, not likely......

Well Bill,if you ever decide to come north to the States,bring
that front diff.I'll buy it off you.Judging by the amount of dope
and illegal aliens that cross the border it shouldn't be to hard
to smuggle a Samurai chunk.

what are you saying ...nobody could just buy one and get it sent there , we buy thousands of secondhand corvettes, camaros and mustangs from there, bout time you guys bought something back.... think of the benefits no rust , coils to play with , probably be better off buying a Jimny though (we dont get the Sierra here anymore), to get power steering , longer wheelbase , efi , etc

No sense importing what you can't drive on the highway (legally). US vehicle saftey regs are among the strictest in the world in that if the vehicle doesn't pass full certification it can't be driven on the road.

Now, don't confuse this with strict in the sense that the safety concerns are paramount - just that you have to jump through the NHTSA/DOT hoops to get it on the road.

It could be shipped. However, I have no idea as to how much it would cost.

BTW, the rear R&P would also have to go together, as the ratio (3,91) is different that that of the older Sams........

Not saying anyone should do anything illegal of course....

You can do what alot of the mini cooper guys have done for years. Bring a vehicle into the country in a few different pieces. This way its just 'replacement parts'. Once here, reassemble and accidentally mix up the paperwork on it and another Samurai title you might have laying around. Sometimes those VIN tags can fall off too. You can always reattach them with a pop-rivoter.

Your aftermarket modification pieces will be highly limited in North America though, even items as basic as lockers.
