For Sale:$450
Clark 280VO [5.98/3.50/1.86/1.00/0.80/5.04R] 5 speed trans. Used '68-85 and later in over-1.25 ton applications. It is out of a '79 Ford 4WD, F-600 two axle dump. I don't know what engine it had. One of Ford's big industrial gas 6's, I believe. Here are some specs though:
retainer hole dia: 5"
stickout: 6-3/4"
clutch sleeve dia.: 1-3/4"
spline dia.: 1-3/8"
spline count: 10
pilot dia.: 1"
case length 15"
has NP 205 shifter, shifter knob and bracket/linkage still attached.
rr output is round 4 bolt for divorced NP205 short drive shaft
This is a true heavy duty. Much more H.D. than an NV4500 or any Getrag.
Going thru the gears- everything smooth; bearings, synchros.
It seems to be in very good shape. This is a great buy in my view.
I found it just too heavy duty to use in my CJ8. This is the rare one with 20% OD. Most of the Clarks had a 1:1, 5th gear. I posted this 2 years ago, and had lots of bites but no buyer. This is a good deal, and it should last longer than you will.
regards, as always, jefe
