Only advice I could offer is start with a larger piece than you need. Looks like you know what you’re doing. Don’t forget to check at full bump, full lock and drooped out one side.

Thank you.
The 20 Guage sheet metal from Jegs was perfect. It bent and welded good! Yet, it is still strong. I wasted money on the 16 Guage.
I followed what the other post on tubbing did and cut about 1/2-3/4" extra; then cut slits to bend tabs over to weld. It's not perfect but fits good enough for a mig. I was able to spot weld 3 or 4 spots with tig, but the gaps were to big after that. So I drove it to my uncle's (on back roads) and welded/tacked both sides in with his little Lincoln mig. It is sturdy now. The welds could look prettier. I am just beginning on welding. But I got enough of it hot to be strong. I am climbing underneath today to see about a couple more tacks. Then, I am done welding and will start to seal it with polyurethane construction sealer. Then coat it with rubber undercoat. I am not sure yet if I need primer under rubber undercoat?? Anybody?

I will post pics later. After, I bring the rig back from my uncle's. Those tires take a lot of power to turn for that 22r.

I did flex it a little but not very much. It was almost on the bump stops. And I had extra room to spare. But I don't really have a way to flex it or droop it like a ramp or fork lift. Hmmm.

More pics later

I use a chain come-along from the bumper somewhere, down under the axle and up to the shock hoops/frame to compress and hold when I want to cycle my leaf spring suspension. Works great and is pretty safe to do.

Turned out good, I gotta get the balls to do mine now. I’m on 35’s with room for 37’s but want to go bigger.
Nice. I love these rigs. I was actually considering downsizing to 36's or 37's and get some more streetability as well as more articulation. Just a thought for now.

Did you have to remount your ECU on the passenger side? maybe that grey box is the ECU in the picture above? it looks different then mine hence the question but I have an 89 with EFI and the computer is quite a bit larger.
kudos to the work, not the prettiest but who cares, you're the only one who is going to see it and it serves its purpose.

Yeah it's not the prettiest but I still love it. It is like becoming more mine the more I work on it. By the way, I named it Toledo, short for Holy Toledo. 😁

Because mine is not efi and smaller, I didn't have to remount that grey box. I did unbolt it to get it out of the way for cutting and welding. But then, I was able to bolt it back in the stock location. The efi guys usually remount it to a different location.

I also trimmed the kick panels about 1 3/4" to clear and then put them back in. I believe I gained about 3 1/2" of clearance or more at that bottom corner of the fender.

Maybe, I should post more pics after the paint. I had to locate white bed liner spray to match the fender, finally found some at AutoZone for 20.
