So my son has an '87 Chevy Suburban. It's a 3/4ton with a 4" lift on 35" tires. 10 bolt front that has new balljoints, axle shafts, wheel bearings, etc.. Also new tierod, draglink, power steering box. Springs are just over a yr old. Also has ORD swaybar disconnect and heavy duty shackle and bushings. But turning back and forth while sitting still. There is a clunk. I can't tell where it is coming from. We have checked the frame and it's not crack.
I had the same clunk on my 84 K30. I thought it was the spring hanger moving . As it appeared to be moving a touch. So I welded it up. It has gone away for the most part. But every once in a while it still does it.
Anyone have this problem? Is it maybe the rivits working loose in the crossmembers?

Shackle bushings and possibly hangers.
Steering cross member rivots
Pitman arm
Ubolts
Wheel bearings and brake caliper.
Leafspring layers and retainers
Pretty much everything is new over the past yr or so. Just put new axle joints in this past weekend. Bearings and brake calipers are new also. I'm thinking the crossmember rivets.

sway bar bushings are worn through on my K30 and make a clunky sound when I turn sitting still or going slow...
They are brand new poly's from ORD also.Replaced the same time we did the ORD swaybar disconnects. We have been chasing this for a while. Bonus is chasing this. We have pretty much rebuilt the whole front. Drives straight as an arrow. Can cruise all day 70-75 MPH and it's on 35" BFGs. Faster if you don't mind wasting more fuel.

Ive had the bushings make noise, The shackels, the cracked steering frame around box, rivets move, leaf springs, etc. Only hard noise to find was the pitman arm nut came loose once. It took a while to figure out because i was not expecting it due to all the other things ive had cause noises.
