Hey guys

I am getting a spare AX5 rebuilt for my 1990 YJ and i am going to be installing it next weekend!

Anyone have any tips on how to make the install go smooth?

I am getting a spare flywheel cut so that should be a breeze!

I have never worked on a rig with an internal slave cylinder and i am a little nervous.

Anyone got any tips??

Thanks

Swap over to the external slave. I usually use longer bolts to help line it up and pull it in, even though it's advised not to...

It is not hard. I am not so familiar with the AX5, but the ax15 had a 12pt bolt on the top of the bellhousing that I replaced with a hex bolt. That top bolt was the only slightly hard bolt to get in. All of the others were a breeze. If you get a clutch kit, it should come with a clutch disc placement tool to line it up in the clutch. I just pulled my jeep up into the garage and raised/lowered the tranny with a floor jack and some 2x4s that balanced it front to back.

As far as the external slave, I cannot see putting any effort or money into that tranny. good luk ;)
