As rock crawlers started going faster and faster we have learned a lot about making our components as strong as possible. Lightweight and minimalistic went out the window and safety has taken the main priority.
We set out to create a product line that helps fill the void between lightweight builder components and full bore heavy hitters that are simply much thicker and heavier in order to hold up to the abuse of going fast in a rock crawler. Fortunately all of these components have begun to find their way under daily drivers and trail rigs with the same benefits.
First on our list was reinforcing link and shock hardware. On my old Ultra4 car we had a lot of wallowed bolt holes and failed hardware. It was a result of undersized tabs and hardware for the application. Soft mild steel tabs would allow the bolts to loosen which causes tabs to wallow, and eventually bolt failure.
We have designed this line of components anyone can use to create bulletproof link and shock mounts that will provide years of abuse without the fear of bolts loosening up and failing. These are cheap insurance to keep expensive items like shocks, driveshafts, oil pans, transmission cases, and fuel cells in one piece. A link bolt failure can easily end a day in the most catastrophic way. Keep it all in place by using Liquid Iron Industries Competition Series Builder Components.
Stepped 4130 Weld Washers
These are the core of our competition series lineup. The hardened material keeps bolts tight while creating a thicker bolt mounting location to eliminate wallowed holes. They can also be used to replace failed link brackets by simply drilling them out to the appropriate size (3/4" bore for 1/2" bolts, 1" bore for 5/8" and 3/4" bolts).

4130 Chromoly Weld Washers
4130 Chromoly weld washers are used to strengthen bolt holes in demanding application where a simple tab is not up to the task. Available in 1/2", 5/8" and 3/4" bores, these can be used for both shock and link tabs all over your chassis. They can also be used to repair wallowed holes from loosening link bolts. 1/2" bore washers are designed to be used in 3/16" material (dropping in a 3/4" hole in base tab) for a total bolt hole thickness of 3/8". 5/8" and 3/4" bore washers are designed to be used in 1/4" material (in a 1" hole in base tab) for a total bolt hole thickness of 7/16". These are the same washers used in our competition series control arm brackets as well as all of our Ultra4 race car builds. Testing has proven the harder bolt hole material to keep bolts tighter and completely eliminate wallowed holes and broken bolts when used properly.
