I have a bare bones model 4Runner with only Speedometer Temp and Gas guages. I just acquired a cluster out of and automatic SR5. I am wondering if anyone knows what has to be done to make the swap complete. Is it just plug and play or do different things have to be hooked up?

assuming your clusters are from compatible years for fiting, you'll have to watch out for the tach. if you have a 4 cyl and the tech is outta a 6, you'll have probs. also, you'll have to buy a oil pressure sender unit and install it. everything else is easy-cheesy... all the wiring you'll need is there; it was cheaper for Toyota to make one complete harness for all trucks than a SR5 and a nonSR5 harness

if you search this subject here or at outdoorwire.com, you should find it's been discussed A LOT.

Today you will find that almost cars, trucks and whatever are this way, It took the US a bit longer to do this, another reason is the dealer installed options.. Just a bit of triva!!!!
