I just got my 4.3 running in my toy and it is junk. My ?'s are as follows
1) Will a early modle Tbi intake bolt to a 99 or newer vortec block and heads?

2)Will the Tbi intake bolt to older carb motors?

3) will the vortec heads bolt to carb block and work with Tbi intake?

Thanks for any help that you guys could provide.

No, the 99 vortec won't work. The only years that will work to switch over to carburation or TBI are the 94s and 95s. An older intake isn't even close to fitting (bolt pattern changed and width also in 96). Now for the 94s and 95s you can buy good wiring harness's from painless if you want to hook that up. Anything from 96 up needs a speed sensor or it won't run properly. And there's a company that builds speed sensors, but there's don't transmit fast enough so you need the t-case and tranny that goes with that engine and those cost big $$$$$$$$. About the only thing you might be able to do is find a marine intake for that year. I already went through the hassle and ended up buying a 97 vortec with 100kms and tearing it apart only to find out it didn't work so I sold it and bought a 91. Just finishing gettin it all installed in my 89 toy p/u. It's mated to a 4 sp and 205, for future considerations. Forced induction, maybe!

The reason I consider it junk is it has a fairly good rod knock and I am tapped out money wise. i just popped for the painless harness for the tbi, along with fuel pump,etc.. I would like to find a good runner to put in, but finding one at a decent price is hard. Time to start hunting.

Thanx for the help

The Vortec heads can be redrilled for the TBI intake bolt parttern or GM performance should have a intake out now for a late 4.3.

Im still looking fora set of Vortec heads for a 4.3. I have 2 sets of ported ones- they don't flow enough for my tastes - and its to $$$ for aluminun heads - but yet i still wanna go with all aluminun 4.3 stroker witha 4-71 on top

What fuel pump did you buy? I am still using the Toy 3.0 EFI pump.....I was told that the Ford EFI pump was a good choice....
I have '95 Vortec/painless wiring harness/'93 ECU(dist&coil) and it works pretty good...I am gettiong ready to hook up a VSS(not running one right now) to get the fuel mileage where it belongs...I get 12-13 right now(SUX)......I found that Jaguars That Run website offers a TBI/TPI swap manual as well as several VSS units that connect to the Toy speedo output....
I use the Toy 5 speed and have LC clutch MC and slave units to run the Centerforce II unit I have.......

Howell sells a nice inline TBI pump (Walbro).

The JTR book really does little to cover the V6 engines, and is mostly TPI stuff.

For the fuel pump I am running a howell in line pamp that I traded some parts for. It run good for all of two hours but always had a faint noise, now I know what it was. I have also been told that you can run a boat intake to use a Tbi on the new block. Anyone know for sure?
