Well, it's the 4th Q of 2003. Where are the Creepy Crawlers? Maxxis' website hasn't been updated since about May.

Anyone running them yet?

Anyone seen them yet?

If so, what ya think?

I saw one of them at the Off-Road expo in Pomona this year. They weren't on a vehicle, but they looked good enough. The most intriguing part may be the price. I've heard rumors that they will be priced VERY competitively.

I sure damn hope so, tire prices are rediculous for the non-sponsored consumer. Someone needs to lower the bar for the recreational wheeler.

yeah i thought they looked great since the first pics i saw of them.

i keep bugging my wholesaler buddy, and he hasnt gotten the first word from maxxis about them.
I'd try em out. If they are priced like the rest of their tires. (which is usually waaaaaaaaaaaaay less than BF, Goodyear, blah blah blah) :D:D I want a pair of krawlers something fierce but I can't justify the cost. That's rediculous.

Didn't look in the link?

The bias-ply tire is DOT-certified. Its construction consists of four-ply polyester and two-ply nylon under the tread, with four-ply polyester on the sidewall and a C-load rating. It comes in 10 sizes: 35X12.50-15, 35X12.50-16, 37X12.50-15, 37X12.50-16, 33X12.50-15, 33X12.50-16, 37X14.50-15, 37X14.50-16, 38.5X14.50-15, and 38.5X14.50-16.
No 16.5s so I'm out.:(

a bias ply tire that isn't quite tall enough, and doesn't come in 16.5", that'll probably be pretty cheap.</whine>

those asshats are taunting me.

are they mainly an off road tire like the Krawlers (that can't be driven like over 70 mph) or are they like a mud terrain style tire that has no problems on the street but also perform well off road.
quoted from the link:

"After the trail runs with the M-8090s, we hit the highway to check their street-ability and road handling characteristics. We expected the aggressive tread pattern to project a deafening hum throughout the cab of the truck, yet, due to their computer design, the tire was surprisingly quiet compared to some mud-terrain-type tires. They handled very well on straight highway roads but were a little squirrely when cornering hard because of the tall tread lugs. For braking tests, the stopping distances were comparative to that of other aggressive tread designs."

However that doesn't say to much for long term highway usage. :D

I don't know where everyone is getting that.... I drove on a set from Tampa to Dallas at 80 mph+ with no problems. They actually don't ride that bad and aren't very loud either. I know others have made even longer trips with much heavier vehicles and haven't had problems with ride or wear. Check the tow rig section...

Hey, I know that rig :D :D :D ...........I have significant personal experience there. WARM DAY and a fairly heavy Jeep!!

I thought they hooked up pretty well for as new of a carcass as we were running. It took a while for the sidewall to break in, which is probably good for a trail rig. They like LOW pressure when new. Seem truer to size than the Mudzilla's that we ran earlier in the season.

Is the Mudzilla even still in production? It seems to have been dropped from the website..
I'm not sure. It seemed like they wanted to keep it an market it as a 'Mud' tire and do the 'Creepy Crawler' as a competition tire. I think if someone invested some time to optimize the tire to their rig, they'd work pretty well. Some grooving might help, but I think the air pressure and the broken in sidewall is the most critical.
