I installed an Offroad Design Crossover steering kit this morning. I have a Dodge Dana 60 under a 87 Chevy K-5. The short draglink sucked and required me to install a funky block on the left steering arm. It was time for crossover steering.

It was easy and the kit is very well designed and very heavy duty. I ran out and bought a 2wd GM steering box before I got the kit, because their web site says one is required. It kinda pissed me off a little in that their website does not say is that there are different year breaks for the 2wd steering boxes. I am more pissed at myself for not asking, as they gladly tralk to you on the phone and give tech details and are extremely knowledgable. I figured they were all the same, so I didn't ask... but they are not! The year break out was included in the directions however.

here they are:
68-76
77-79
80-91

So if you go out and get the steering box first, get a box from a 2wd that is in the same year group.

here are some pictures of the install

this is the block that I had to use to be able to use the 4wd steering box to the dana 60 steering arm. I had to shorten the steering arm a good 3 inches to even make it work. The 4wd box sucked because with big tires ans you turn, the pitman arm and the tires run into each other.

yep, tomorrow I am getting the high pressure line made. THe low pressure line was easy to swap out.

No, I didn't get the brace. I inspected my frame and it was in good shape so I think it will be alright for the time being. When I get time, I'll jack it up and crawl underneath and might just fab up and weld a cross brace on it myself.
