thanks Glen. I never get to use it, and I think its finally time to let it go. I have been putting it off for a long time, and I need the space in the garage anyway. I gotta start making room for go carts and dirt bikes- gonna have a little boy in a few months. :)

cheers!

First, I'd like to say congrats to you and Becky

You should hang onto the rig for a while. Even if it sits for weeks/months, it's there when you get the time for a "Mental health run". You have plenty of time before you need to worry about garage space for kids bikes, go carts, ect...

My girls love the 40... Samantha wants to build her own (with some help) :grinpimp:

:D thanks everyone! we're stoked on the soon to be here kid. I have been advised by a few buddies that putting the kid on a dirt bike before hes three isnt a good idea, but I am going to try anyway. Ahead of schedule and under budget :D
I absolutely plan on building another 40, or maybe a wagon. In the mean time, I have our 2003 4runner I am going to start bolting parts to for mild wheeling/ camping. So we'll still be there for the Deer Valley runs and stuff like that. I'll be hitching a ride with you guys for the more hard core stuff until I get the 4runner further a long- or build my next rig. Building them is half the fun, and in a few years will have a little help.

cheers!

Don't do it man. Highlight of the week for my 2 and 4 year old is a trip to the donut store or tool store with dad in the cruiser. If you gotta sell it, at least get another in a couple of years and let them start working on it with you.

Congrats on the kiddo...I'm getting #3 (a girl supposidly)...its awesome and life changing in a wonderful way.

Dustin,
as a father who has put three through the dirt bike gig. Three years old is too young. MAYBE it'll work, but odds are he'll get scared once and be spooked or years.

Bicycle with training wheels, watching Dad ride. Once the training wheels are off(4 to 5 years old), a PW/JR/mellow KTM 50, automatic, 1 speed, no power to get the feel for a while, then a more powerful 50.

After that, an XR50 type of bike, with some gears but no clutch.

Once that's done, a mellow full featured bike such as an XR80. Real controls, f & R brakes in the right spot, a clutch with a five speed transmission, but still no power.

Then, finally a bike with some guts. Two stoke 80 or the new 150 four strokes.

Sounds cheap, eh?

Miss one step above and you threaten scaring the shit out of them for years. Ask me how I know.

There a VERY few exceptions to the kid/bike upbringing I've detailed above.
Your buddie's advice is good, you risk making them deathly afraid of bikes for a long time. Each kid is different, if you push too hard, too young, you could fuck it up forever.

Basically, keep your cruiser for another five years to give them a love for motorized outdoor adventure, then start the dirtbike gig, IMHO.
