Tonight I'll try to get this pic up on my site (link in sig) of a Hybrid I saw Friday at Dixie run on Guardrail. Not a real good shot because people are repairing a sheared spring pin on it. It's one of the nicest Hybrids I have seen. It has a S10 Extended cab, K5 Blazer frame, 454, TH400, NP 205, D60 Front, 14 Rear on 44 boggers.

SUPER S Did you sling those axles under the factory 2wd frame or did you put the S-15 body on a fullsize frame?
Ya I wanted to keep it in the 2wd s-10 frame. I think it makes it a little more unique that way. Also the frame is lighter and probably a little stronger than the crack prone FS frame. It wasn't too hard to do, took a little time (3-months) and a little money, I had $800 into it when I first got it together including the cost of the axles, driveline, tires, and rims. I have since tripled that with better trans/tranfer, gears, and locker though.

White Knight- nice set-up. I like the front fender strech, good idea. Too bad you missed TTC '01. Are you going to try again? One of my friends got to go this year, he had a good time.

Here is the one I was talking about. This type of Hybrid is pretty common on the trails up at Tellico. They run no beds and no front clip. 4-6 inch lift so minimal drive line problems and then the biggest tires they can get on it.
This one is a K5 frame with a Extended S10 cab, 44 boggers, D60 front Lincoln locked, 14 rear with a Detroit, TH400, NP205 and a 454 motivating it. It also runs dual fuel. They cut it over to Propane when they hill climb so that the off camber doesn't hurt it and then run regular gas most of the time.
This is a pretty nice one. LOTS of these up there. Most have exo cages on the cab.

Funny thing here is as tough as this truck is a 95 cent spring pin sheered and they were replacing it in the pic.

The front clip was a 10" extension , Hence, needed the room for the big block and 4 core rad.

This year?- I don't think so.
After last year, I doubt they'd give me another chance.
The truck is not street legal anymore. Only have off road plates now. Another strike.
It's too bad, it would have been fun.

Did your friend compete? If so, which one was he? I'm sure it must have been a rush.
It's nice to hear about the people that get to try it <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

Ya. It was Eric O'Sullivan, white 77' Ford. If you look in the mag at his truck he has a Higher Class sticker across the windshield. I'm the pres. of the club.

I would re-enter it again, if it's feasable. I think you stand a good chance of getting picked again. The heck with street legal. Eric said 1/2 the trucks there where far from street legal. All as you need is a license plate as far as he could tell. Thats one heck of a drive from Canada though. Good Luck.
