I'm building a front rev D44 for my XJ. I know it's not a D60 so flame away. I plan on using G Waggy axles, flat top knuckles, G Waggy brake adapters & calipers and ford spindles, hubs and rotors. Will this combo work? I will be going with a high steer set-up and 35's. I would have went with a 60 but was concerned (since this is a uni-body) about the added weight and also about clearances. I plan on retaining the 4 link suspension but will be raising the mounts 2". Any input from others who have done this would be great.

Watch your driveline angle as the stock D30 is high pinion. Otherwise sounds great I wish I had a place to put somthing like that together.

The D44 I will be using is a high pinnion type also.

I'm also thinking about thinking about trying the Super 44 kit with a detroit in the rear since I will need new axle shafts and a locker anyway..

No dumb newbie ?'s from me...

If your going to get new rear axles why go 5 lug front? why not use 6 lug knuckles out on the front and get 6 lug to match rear? just curious seems alot easier

Have you seen Jeff's project on www.madxj.com ?

Same thing I did and most likely what you want to do as well. It comes out 60 inches WMS to WMS when you use a 70 wagoneer short side shaft and an 80's wagoneer long side shaft (swapped left to right, of course).

Warn also makes the correct shaft lengths standard, not special order, so it worked out great. I used 6 lug for simplicity, I'm almost done, need to have the rear 8.8 shafts redrilled.

I figured since I need a rear locker and axles I can get the Super 44 set-up and have stonger axles than I can with 6 lug alloy ones.

I am a Mad XJ member. I will be talking to Jeff about his set-up. So Warn makes GW axles? I plan on using alloy axles and keeping these as spares. I just might use the 6 lug set-up since I'm having a hard time finding a rev 44 with discs without the cast mounts. I have found 4 or 5 drum brake ones with the welded mounts. If I wind up with a drum brake one I'll go 6 lug. I already have the GW axle assembly and a 2WD MJ axle to use for the mounts.
