How about new bearings, a locker, and a gear swap if needed, and Disk brakes.

Don't know how inspirational that is, but it 's what I'd be looking at.

well i am putting 5.38 gears and ARB in it with disk brakes... but the problem that im facing right now is i have a 4banger DD right now and wasnt sure if anyone else was trying to do this.... i eventully want to do a engine swap to but money is a small issue in that too

as of right now this is what im at...
-2.5L with AEM brute force and throttle body
-stock d30 and welded d35 with 4.88 gears
-35X12.5R 15 Xterriains (which are for SALE 75% tread on rock crawler wheels 700$)
-3 inch black diamond suspension
-1inch body
-SYE

MY BUILD WILL BE...
D60 front with 5.38 gears and detroit
d70 rear with 5.38 gears and ARB
wheel base will be 105-107 about
sway a way 16in res shocks all the way around
d300
eventually 40in nittos on h2 rims but for now im staying with 35s

No one has ever built a D70 on Pirate. Ever. :flipoff2:

Seriously though, with a 4-popper you might to look at deeper gears than 5.38s. 6.17 would be MUCH better.

if it were me id put the detroit in the rear and the arb in the front, and if you run 35's with the 60/70 combo, you will have no clearance under the diff. that might give incentive to swap the new nittos with the axles at the same time

why would you sitch up the lockers to arb front and detroit rear?
Because it is nice to be able to unlock your front axle for steering purpose. Having to let off the gas to turn can be an issue sometimes. Also Detroits have been know to explode in front axles if you break a shaft.

For gear choices you need to EDUCATE yourself. You have 5.86 or 6.17 gears to choose from.
