Dakota Unsprung Weight?

Dakota Unsprung Weight? for 4-link calculator.

Anyone know the unsprung weight of the front and rear of a 1999 Dodge Dakota SLT 4x4 ex Cab?

I'm trying to figure out my 4-link set-up and need those figures. Unfortuneatly, the truck is undriveable, so I cannot head down to weigh it on a scale.

I found the curb weight of the truck off Edmunds.com. They read it as 4022 lbs. So I have that number, just not the other 2.

Also, I'm using that 4-link program that is in these forums from Triaged. BTW, thanks Triaged =).

While we're on the subject....with this vehicle, there is now way of getting the IC way out front of the vehicle without really making the arms long, the wheels base is too long at 131". As it is, upper arms are at 45" and lowers at 62". But, the IC will be in front about 12" of the IC of the front arms.

Oh, another subject, is the front configured the same as the rear? I'll be using a panhard bar up front also.

Unsprung weight is going to depend on what you are using for axles, tires, wheels, brakes, and so on. Only you can answer that question.

Axles will be ....

Oh! I get it. It is asking me for the actual weight of the axles, basically everything from the bottom of the shock down, plus 1/2 the weight of the shock. Okay, that makes it easier.

I'll be using 78 ford F350 Dana 60 in front with 1.5" .250 DOM tubing for tie Rod, PSC Hydro Ram, High Steer Arms, 39.5" IROK Tires on 17" MT Classic wheels.

Rear will be Corp 14-bolt 10.5" full float with wheel spacer and same wheels/tires with disc brake conversion. Will also have the Bluetorch Truss on it.

Anyone know what those would weigh by any chance? I haven't got them yet, just got some free time and trying to do calculations.

This is what I have so far for the rear link.

I just estimated what the axles way. Hopefully that's in the ball park.

Does this look right to anyone?

How does the Edmunds curb weight compare for a Dakota vs a Durango? I bet your "wheeling weight" will be much higher than the curb you're using... Just a guess. And I'd assume for geometry purposes, you'd want to use something as close to the "to-be" weight as apposed to the "as-is" weight...??

I realize I'm probably heavier due to more body mass and glass, but.... My wheeling weight is 5820 lbs. This includes myself, wife, fulll tank of fuel, tools and full sized spare tire. Distribution is 55 front 45 rear.

Did you happend to notice that this thread will have it's 9th birthday on next saturday? And if you had looked the OP's profile, you'd know that he's not been here since 2007. So don't hold your breath for an answer

BTW, google around for the D60/14FF weight. Oh, and the weight of the tire/wheel combination of your choice. There's a huge difference between the 35" MT's vs. 54" Boggers for example. Look at the post #2.
