Ok, I am a complete idiot when it comes to trannies, But once in a while when you let the clutch out it makes this nasty whinning metal sound, but goes away once you put it in gear and drive. Mostly happens when you start it after its been off. Its a 258 with a puegot tranny, the clutch is fairly new but other than that all original. Any help will be apprietiated.

Assuming you are talking about sitting still, at idle, with the trans in neutral and clutch out. Bad throwout bearing. Kind of a pain to change since the x-case and trans need to come out. You say the clutch is fairly new, the bearing should have been changed just because the mech was there.

Throwout bearing. Just because the mech. was there doesnt mean that it happened. I know some pretty lazy ass mechanics.
