Looks wicked. How did that scout d44 work out in the front? Did you end up cutting and rewelding the axle tubes? What spindles did you go with chev of scout? any help would be great. where are you in b.c

Jay's at work so I'll try to answer some of the posted questions.

where are you in b.c
Delta (lower Mainland)

To Fatkid
Do you think the leafs in the front will work well enough to balance out your rig?
They are CJ's they flex pretty good...
Of course coils would be better --- HAHAHAHAHA! Sorry J!

And what type of material did you use for you links? Couldn't tell are those Johny joints on your links or bushings?
The material for the links is schedule 40 tubing (oooooooo, ahhhhhhhhh, gasp -- hey it works dam fine so :flipoff
J used Aurora rod ends (heim) joints from Spidertrax in both ends of his center link, in the frame end of his outer link (the other end is Energy Suspension bushings for vibration dampening duties) and his panhard has rod ends in each.

I think that is everything. Post if you want to know more.

Im planning on something similar, but for my ScoutII, whats the length of those coils at ride heigth & where did you get the coil seats from?-RED

Post some pics of the buildup. I'd like to have some visuals, i'm doing the same swap, but coils up front and springs in the rear! Did you cut and turn the knuckles? for the spring setup up front, did you outboard the mounts? What all was mandatory to do the swap?

Thanks

Looks awesome!!!

I must say, it was a bit of a shock seeing these pics up here again. Unfortunately for Jay, he had to sell the rig unfinished. Fortunate for me as I was able to buy it from him and it now is sitting in my garage. I picked it up right at the begining of January and just started buying parts like crazy for it! I've been waiting on lots of parts and things which have delayed the buildup but I assure you it will be running very soon. The motor is going in next weekend (if the parts I was promised are here this week) and the drivetrain to follow. I'm throwing in a 1600block with a twin-cam head in, with kick tranny and t-case with OTT adaptor to toy case with 4.7's in the toy case. The OTT adaptor took a few weeks to get here because they are very backlogged but was worth the wait. It looks very sweet. I'm a bit worried of the rear case coming close to the centre link but I think it will work out. I'll post lots of pics when it's done. As for the tire size, I ordered some 37" boggers and I'm waiting on those as well. When Rudezuk got his it really got me thinkin'...... and don't worry people, the sawzall will get lots of use to make the tires fit.....

As for the suspension questions, well, I didn't build it so I can't really say why some things were done because in all honesty I would have done some things differently. But I will test and see how it works then make changes to suite my needs. I'm thinking the coils might be a little soft but we will only have to wait and see.

You ought to see the Slinky on www.sierrarockcrawlers.com It uses aerostar coils front and rear on a willys. The action pix are good and the axles can become perpendicular to each other. Sam did a killer job on it and you guys should go see it. It'll be at the Con this year also. :D :D :D

One pic of it is under the hammered turkey run 2k
It's not the one I was talking about, but it shows the axles twisted up. It is on the second page of pix and is all the way down at the bottom. It starts on the homepage and the pic of the rolled truck is the link.
