do I need to pump the oil out of my front dana 50
dif?

I could not find a drain plug.

I thought maybe If I removed the bottom bolt
it would drain but when I removed the bolt
nothing came out.

also it apears as if red rtv was used to seal
the dif Is this the way the factory did it ?
or has this front end been apart ???

thanks.

I've heard of people taking the very bottom bolt out and drilling up on an angle to create a drain plug of sorts. If you do this make sure you silicone the bolt when you put it back in.

Those look like F-150 parts, but still very similar

Pumping out the oil worked best for me.
Drive around several miles with the hubs locked (T-case in 2WD) to help churn up anything that might be in the oil (water, etc.). This will help you suck out any crud thats in there. This will warm it some as well, making it easier to pump out.

Step 1---- Pull Driver side hub, rotor, caliper, spindle, and axle.

Step 2---- fold the driver side mirror in

Step 3---- Jac the passenger side of the truck up until it lays amost completely over onto driver side....Drainage should ensue
