It's the perfect time to upgrade to the Waggy power! The D44 will be a pretty good swap and a lot stronger.

To answer your question: I have no clue

By now you have got to know the Dana 35 is a P.O.S. I broke mine on the street But yes they should be identical if it came off a Yj..

I will answer this at great risk.

You should know better than to post Q's about D35s around here, other than how to swap one out.
There are places where people ask this kind of question

Early YJs (87,88,89?) came with a non c-clip D35. The axle shafts were retained by a bearing pressed on to the axle shaft, and a retainer plate outboard of this bearing.
The later 35s used the much dreaded c-clip to retain the shafts, inside the carrier. The bearing at the end of the housing is pressed into the housing, instead of the axle shaft.
I am not sure if the housing end is the same or not. I would guess they are different.
Just to be on the safe side, I would swap in a D60 instead. Quit wasting time and money on the 35. You can polish a turd all you want, but it is still a turd.

Your going to have problems with a direct bolt-in... The new 35c has c-clip axles where your old one has the bearings pressed on. In a way it's better, if you, or when you snap your axle the wheel won't fly off. Unfortunately the axles only fit in the respective 35.

I talked with a guy at Rubicon express, and another jeeper at 4WP's, they both said that it will work. Im not challanging your response, im just confused as to weather its really gonna work, guess the only way to see, is "to do." so we'll see how it goes

I got rid of my 35 at the earliest possible date. Right now, I have a 60 waiting for me in Davis, free, all I have to do is arrange a day to swap it out of the guy's truck and put in his new axle.

All I was trying to say was that this sight is focussed more on the hardcore side of four wheeling, and there are MUCH more appropriate places to ask about upgrading D35s, where the people actually have done what you are asking, and you are not likely to get flamed for asking about D35 upgrades .

And don't worry, you don't have to twist my arm to have a

so, what you're saying is that asking D35 questions is ? I'd have to say YES it's FAWKING GAY

I'm glad I'm not the only one to think along these lines

Hehe, this is too funny! I'm swapping in a '87 for my '93 35C. I would have traded you!

All 35's SUCK!! But I'd prefer to have the '87 35 over the '93 35C any day!

When you break (and you will) your tire won't shoot out of the side of your jeep!

I say keep your 35, let the 35C rot. If you want a 35C housing, I'll have one REAL CHEAP!! It's got 3.07 gears in it...but other than that it's a 35C! I've even got 2 sets of axles.
