Not sure if you remember me. I'm putting '87 YJ axles under my '93 for gearing reasons.

anyway, are the brakes different? Someone told me they also have different knuckles...however that doesn't really matter, the entire axle will be swapped out. But will the brake lines bolt up to the older axles ok? Ebrake and such...

He also said that older YJ's used the same brake pads as the CJ's...correct?

Thanks!! Just trying to be ready for the swap

I'm 99% sure that the rear brakes are the same, and that the lines will fit both.

The front rotors and calipers were changed a bit due to the hub redesign, and it's possible the caliper fitting changed too...but at worst you could use an earlier flex line, the hard line fitting at the chasis will be the same between earlier and later

I have a 92 4banger that I swapped a 89 rear axle from a 6 cyl. and the drums from the 89 are bigger. That was one plus in the swap but I had some issues with the e brake being a little different but I just swapped over my original cables. If you run into problems just use what you need from your original axles. Good Luck.
