i dont know much about auto's and this may be a dumb question, but its not tuesday and its in the noob section :D. would a direct drive setup suck for what we do? i know it would give better compression braking but i dont really give a fawk about going slow down a hill, but with the right setup a normal auto can have good compression braking. would the motor stall in the rocks or when shit is bound up rather than the TC slipping? Im i better to just get the right TC for my motor (6.0L vortec with a powerglide behind it) basically what are the pro's and cons of a direct drive setup.

The motor would stall if the truck stops. Also, you lose the reduction that the torque converter provides (most estimate that at ~2:1) so you would have super high gearing.

Yes, direct drive would suck. Try running a standard trans with no clutch in the rocks. Yes,the motor would stall in the rocks or when shit is bound up unless you find neutral, fast. Run a converter!:shaking:
