what vehicles have a 44 rear with discs?

or

what is involved in swapping disc brakes for drums in a 44 rear?

and

while swapping discs onto a drum rear 44, could you go ahead and use the entire front knuckle and get a 4wheel steering system?

thankee much, suhs... just up late and curious

I used the calipers ,rotors and backing plates from a 77cad seville. Th backing plates require a little drilling/grinding to mount to your axle. The rotors will also have to be redrilled to the proper wheel pattern. My jeep did not have any of the emergency brake stuff so I took the hand lever and cables from a plymouth sundance. worked with very little modification.
For a street driven Jeep I would not attempt a four wheel steer setup for safety reasons. However if that is what you want to do you could use the knuckles from a front 44 and weld them to your 44 after the tubes were cut to proper length. Then you will have to have some axle shafts cut to the proper length and splined . Then you come to the steering, The easiest and probably the best would be a hydraulic ram, but, whatever you do you need a way to lock it in the centered position. you wouldnt want to be running along at 20 mph or more and have the rear wheels unexpectedly turn on you,and your jeep end up shiny side down.

Ok, spindles off a 30 front. Not the whole knuckles. Then rotors from a late 70's CJ with the cooling fins in the middle. Backing plate/Calipers from a fullsize Blazer '85. Do your research but that should do it. Oh yeah you will need new axles. I added this setup to my front. "Rubicon Ray" bought my setup and put them on the rear. If you find his name in here somewhere, he can give you some more details.

The rear drums in a TJ are pretty small. Could they be replaced with a bigger rear drum set easier?

any parts ideas on this route of more stopping juice?
