I know they are strong but I'm looking into the "Marlin" gears in the case too <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> !! Help me decide guys/gals....

Here's a slightly different thought, get a divorced mount 205 and run it behind the one you have now. I was thinking of doing that, but couldn't find a divorced mount on the right coast.

I have 2 Div. 205's and (3) turbo 350/203 combo's. I'll measure it out tomorrow but I'm putting this in a 86 4 Runner.. <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0">

I had a 5.0/T19 2wd tranny in my 85 4Runner that I ran to a divorced 205. I had severe driveline problems. I mounted the transfer case as far back from the tranny as possible and still ended up with a 11" half-shaft. That wasn't the problem, my problem was that the halfshaft was at too much angle and would bind!
I figured that the halfshaft was at about 35 degrees without a CV joint, just a regular 1350 u-joint

I would warn you to watch your angles if you want to divorce your transfercase, especially if you are doubling cases and that would put you rear transfer wayyyyyyyyy back and hand very low. (Unless you remove you gas tank and stuff the tranfer up where the gas tank was)

As for running a toy transfercase behind a V8, I have put over 400 hp to a toyota tranfercase with a heavy foot and never had any problems. Come to think of it, Personally, I have never seen a stock toyota transfercase fail due to excessive horsepower. I have seen only a few failures due to lack of oil or other user inflicted problems, but never failure due to power. Now this does not apply for lower sets of gears in the t-case, but I think you could get away with a toy t-case, with stock gears and maybe a doubler for the toy t-case.

Just my $0.02

I have installed a few Div. Cases over the years. If I do do the doubler I will remove the gas tank and use fuel cell. I will be running "High Angle" C/V's front/back from Jesse. Looks like I'll start getting ready for the "doubler"..... <IMG SRC="smilies/smokin.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/beer.gif" border="0">
