I've got the opportunity to get a DANA 44 front out of a 1976 Dodge truck. It has flat top knuckles. My question(s) are: Is this axles a good swap into my CJ7? It is already setup for SOA. Seems like it will be a good match to the Waggy 44 in the rear. Also, is it the same 5 lug bolt pattern as a jeep, or is it different?

Thanks for any feedback,

They can be a good swap. The problem with some of the Dodge 44's is they sometimes use an axle disconnect on the long side axles like the YJ's have nad also they sometime have the spindle drive like the YJ's have. So look at the housing and make sure it uses complete inner axles and has the standard internal spline bearing hubs like a ford of chevy 44 has. The dodge will have drive flanges so the bearing hub will be capped off with a crome cap but if you want to put locking hubs on it they will swap right in.

I just finished chopping a Dodge 44 to Waggy 44 width. The springs pads are set a little wider than a Chevy 44. If you go with the CJ spring pad width on the Dodge the chunk pad will throw the driver's side out a little more than the pass side.
If you plan on outboarding the springs for the full width, the Dodge pads will flare both springs out about a 1/2" each.
If you want to narrow to the Waggy width the Chevy would be the perfect housing using the chunk pad, a new pass side pad for CJ pad width.
