I have been doing some research to see if the transmision in my montero was used in other trucks, made by other companies.

On my montero I have a aw372l, with apears to be the same transmision in some toyota products, that use a a44(dl). It is a 4 speed automatic, with overdrive, and electronic lock.

However I dont know if these ended up in a toyota truck, rwd car, or some forklift (kidding).

Do any of you know in what vehicle toyota used the a44dl. And if you do, can you give me a little more information about the transfercase that goes along with that tranny. What side front output? My truck has a drive side front output for the tcase.

My hope is that I may be able to bolt up a toy case with lower gears, or a one in a million chance that a marlin crawler or some other setup may work for me.

Thanks for any help in advance,

Re: Re: Does any one know anything about the a44 auto transmision or the aw372L???

Well I got my anwser from another board, but it wasnt the one I was looking for. I would have to swap in a transmision from a later model mitsubishi, to be suported by any type of crawl box.

There was never any toyota truck a44 aplications here in the us.:(
