People in Walla Walla WA do it all the time. They run 36 and 38" Radial gumbo mudders in the smow and dont brake them too often. But thay also use 5:71 and get away with that too.

BS Bs and more BS. Dont weld it, lock it right. LOL. No seriously thats what everybody said when I asked the same question. I broke way more stuff open then I have Locked. You don't to worry about wheel spin as much when you are locked. That is when you break stuff. I got a used LR pretty cheap, and I love it. I havent broken anything yet. You will hate trying to turn but thats just the side effect from being locked in the front. Just my 2 cents.

I have a friend who has (I think) a detroit in his IFS... He broke stuff all the time...

But then, he was running 38x14.50 TSLs at the time.

Actually, I think the lock right would be a better choice for the IFS since it's cheap. (Like IFS! )

I think the Detroit is a little more "aggressive" when it locks. All I know is that his rig ate ring and pinions, half-shafts, and ball joints with startling frequency.

I assume you have a locker out back? If not, put one there, since it won't have to go bye-bye when you getcha a solid axle.
