I'm getting ready to order a ORD Doubler or a Klune V for my CJ-7 with a Turbo 350 and NP 205. With the doubler built from a 203 205 combination I would have a crawl ratio of 44.68. With a 2.7 Klune I'd be 61.66, and with a 4:1 Klune I'd be 89.3. The Klune in either ratio is more than double the price of the doubler or about 1200.00 more. My question is what are your thoughts on the two units and the value achieved (if any)for the extra money spent if I go Klune. Also with this being an automatic which ratio Klune would you choose? You're input is appreciated.

This might not be much help but have you thought of just doing an Atlas 4.? to 1. Being a cj7 how short would your rear drive line end up at with a double or klune-v? If the Klune is 1200 more than a doubler then that should put you in the ballpark for an Atlas. Just my $0.02.

I say doubler, you already have the 205 so its too late to worry about weight. Also 40:1 with an auto is plenty, any more and your brakes will have a hard time keeping the thing stopped!

i think the Doubler would be too long in a jeep, but not sure. i think your driveshaft would be like 3" long

As far as the Atlas goes, I have considered it and yes it's about the same money as a Klune. I really would like the ability to have the choice of 2:1 and 4:1 rather than just the 4:1 the Atlas would provide. Ideally an Atlas with a doubler would be my choice but now your scaring the heck out of $4000.00.
As for the weight of a 203/205 I hadn't given that much thought but I will now.
Right now with the 205 my driveline is 21". Either the Klune or doubler will shorten it about 6", but one of the things I'm thinking of doing is stretching the wheelbase 6" as part of this project. That would take me to 100". Any thoughts on that? Any more input on the project?

I have a auto and kune V with a 205 in my Scout. I wouldn't change it for nothing.Yes the Klune is more money but only weighs about 50 lbs and adds a 8:1 low range you wouldn't have with the doubler. You will need some awesome brakes to stop the combo.
I say go Klune you won't be disapointed.

A Doubler will add about 85-90# and 6" of driveline length.
Don't forget about the adapters to bolt the Klune box to the TH350 and to the fig8 pattern on the 205. That money adds up quick.
I'm the first to admit a little lower gear would be nice sometimes, but a lot of the time money talks too.

Wouldn't it be just simpler to install an Atlas? Fewer parts to break and better driveline length. Anyone know just how strong a Klune V is compared to an Atlas?

FWIW, I know some who has a $250 gift cert for a KluneV that they aren't gonna use...they'll let it go cheaper than the $250 for sure....might at least save ya some dough....

Tho, sometimes, that's $250 off list which isn't such a good deal....have to check I guess...

E me direct if interested in more info.
