What can I do to prevent my tires from getting dry rot when they are not on the truck? They are out in the elements because I don't have enough room in the garage for them. A good coat of armour all or similar?
What is the best method for storing tires for a long period of time?

first and foremost keep the sun off of them. beyond that I'm not sure if there's much else you need to do.

I'm sure the brain trust will have plenty more recommendations :flipoff2: :D

tires dry rot more from ozone than sunlight, the best to do is store them inside something somewhat sealed and climate controlled, garage, good shed ect,, with plywood between each tire and the ground

Thanks for the replies guys. They'll have to stay out in the elements for now. They won't fit through the hole in the ceiling in the garage.

If you coat the tires in a hand cream with lots of lanolin in it, it will help stave off dry rot for a long time. im not exactly sure what the lanolin does, but it has worked for me.

Tires rot from the inside as well and there is NOTHING you can do to stop that. In Travel Trailer circles it is recomended to replace tires at 5 years no matter how they were treated and stored. The failure rate after 5 years goes up guite a lot. Trailer tires have a lot more UV protection built into them then a regular tire.
