jack obriean (jp eater) makes a kit that puts both shifters through the stock hole, and also one that makes the stock shifter shift both cases. You might want to check that out, i dont have the phone # but i'm sure someone will post it, make sure you have alot of time on your hands when you call though because he will talk your ear off.

no pics but
you can cut out the plastic tray thingie
between the shifter boot and the hatch of
the console. The shifter should fit
perfectly through this opening.

they can be relocaited easily. I did mine
inside the cousoule box with the piece I
cut out. No need to rewire either, they
just stretched enough. I sold this runner
three years ago and I forgot about that
switch.

Or build your own center console:

I moved the three switches to the lower left corner of the dash...I used the space that would have been filled by the electric mirror controls(if I had those)...I had to lengthen the wiring by 14", but it looks pretty good...I have a pic, but will have to wait tilI get home in order to post it...I made an aluminum plate to hold the switches and mounted that into the dash... <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

Do what I did... Rip out all of the stuff attached to the floor (carpet, plastic, sound deadening material etc.).

Drill a hole large enough for a sawzall to fit and start cutting.

Chris Geiger, could you tell me a little more about your console? Is that a Tacoma console? That is a very clean setup.

I also moved them into the dash to the left of the steering wheel. Not sure what the original holes were for but the switches fit right in. I did have to lengthen one of the harnesses a bit.
It's all moot now as I've hacked off the back and don't need either any more.

I think the hole on the left is for the clutch cancel switch (don't think my '85 had one) - put my window switch there. Then I used the extra switch hole by the emergency flasher for the wiper/washer. I just spliced in a few feet of wire to the harness to get the switches up and out of the console.
