Can someone give me some directions to the trail head and where you park your tow rig and also if you run the trail in-out or if it runs back to where your tow rigs are? Any info would be great, or if your willing to comealong, a few of us (rockzombies) are planning to go next weekend the 28th-30th. thanks alot, BR.

map and general trail info link http://californiajeeper.com/dusy_ershim/review.htm

The trailis roughly 32 miles long. Driving it both ways in the same trip might be a bit of stretch but I suppose if you carried enough fuel anything is possible. One way I burned a full tank of gas (19 gallons) in a 4.0 TJ.

I'd run the trial from South to North (going up Thompson was more fun than going down) and don't make a race out of it. It's great country you might as well enjoy it.

The run from Shaver lake to the Southern trail head is about 45 minutes and not green sticker friendly. From the Northern trailhead to Shaver lake is roughly the same time and probably the same ticket for a green sticker rig.

If you have to tow to the trailhead and come in and out the same way then I'd still go in via the Southern end. There is improved campsites, more space and more people. I'd be leery of leaving a tow rig on the Northern end as it's rather secluded but to each their own.

Outside tire to outside tire on my rig is 80" (wmw-wmw 65") and it was a ..tight.. fit. I've read posts about full width Chevy not being an issue but...? Just an fyi not sure if it applies

Not green sticker friendly?...damn i haven't been told this yet! Thanks for the info. the three of us that were planning on going are green sticker and 92" from outside tire to tire!..doh!:homer: Well I'm not sure what trail to hit next weekend now. Seems that the friend who told us we should run Dusy that" its a cool trail" also is about the same width and a green sticker also. What a bummer.
