Were it I, I'd tap off the 12 volt feed line to the Oil Pressure gauge, as it's hot in run and start modes and not affected by a key swipe between the two modes. Don't forget to use a relay to control the pump.

On my CJ7 I've encased the electronic fuel pump in a length of PVC pipe, capped on both ends and hung onto the passenger side frame rail between the tub and the transmission/transfere case skid plate.

In my system, as descripbe, the ignition key acts as a switch. A relay is a device that uses a small current to control a larger one. This is now a safety issue. As example with the fuel pump....

You need only take small wires into and out of the cab/dash to control the relay mounted on the firewall. The relay has contacts that either enable or disable the fuel pump. These contact will handle a larger current load needed by the fuel pump.

If you desire to add a physical swich, it's not out of order. A physical switch could be used to control the voltage to the fuel pump relay. This swich would act as a "kill switch" providing some security to for the Jeep.

Simple thing that is often overlooked, make sure you dont mount it near the exahust system.

Yes i know it sounds dumb but a buddy of mind did that and it killed it pretty fast

Just FYI, electric pumps work best pushing gas not pulling, mount as close to the tank as possible.

I wired mine to the accessories (fused) then to a switch and to the pump. This allows you to turn the pump off (for many reasons). Also works great aganist thieves, cant get for without fuel. <IMG SRC="smilies/roxy.gif" border="0">

since its a stock cj5, and i didn't want to cut any metal lines, i mounted it at the base of the firewall on the driver side away from the exhaust, i knew that would be a mistake, but now i think it has too much pressure for my holley, so i'm puttin a regulator tonight, i'm also wiring in a switch in the dash to be able to cut if off in case of emergency, thanks for ya'lls info
