There have been a few suggestions on Event Rule and Series Rule changes for the 2010 season, can someone post and get info from the competitors in their section on what they would like to see different. This would be for EVENT and SERIES rules only, nothing to do with Class rules...

Are you sure you want to open that can? Alright, here goes.
Here you go
--With the increased fees deterring folks from competing this past year. It would encourage would-be and existing competitors see the pay out for the top places spread out. Maybe some sort of payout 1st-3rd regardless (60-30-10 or some other split), even if 3rd is only $50. It may be gas money for the "1st timer" team and more incentive to show up at the next event.

With only 4 or 5 competitors at each comp all year on the East Coast, it was a winner take all every event. It really didn't provide much incentive for a brand NEW team with little to no experience to join the class. I understand the class is a bit more developed in the West Series but on the East it needs more competitors to be successful.

Most of us are weekend warriors doing this out of our own pockets and a little bit of payback goes a long way... especially justifying it to our better halves. .

I was thinking it would have been cool to get a WeRock t-shirt for competing. I was originally under the impression that was what the $75 membership fee was for (trophies, insurance, and event misc). I bought the series shirt and sweatshirt at the booth in Cedar, but an event shirt would be nice. Even a WeRock decal in the registration packet. I would like to put one on the rig. I know I can just buy one, but I figured, for $275 per event, I was thinking the competitors should get something to show they were there. (especially the guys that don't place)

Not sure if that made sense, don't know how else to put it.

The Formula Class is about drivers not really their rigs. With this, comes the personality that spectators find a followship to. Can you say say Nascar?

At the events set up a ring or booth for the drivers to hang at so spectators can get autographs, special swag etc from "their" driver(s). The flyer and announcer will promote this to the crowd at each event
This will not only promote the class and drivers but also the SPONSORS.
when a kid has a WeRock poster with Trail Gear-matt or Diamond axle-brian
autograph hanging on the wall of their room this keeps them thinking about our sport. maybe the next vacation that a family goes on will be the Finals or PUSU!
Keeping it in mind, keeps it in sight.

As the economy climbs back up we as competitors have to PUSH for our sponosrs so they can support us. Giving a guy a trail gear t-shirt or a kid a powertank key chain or a mom a Red Bull,Monster or GoFast! water bottle for her kids goes a long way. this Swag from the "drivers ring" allows the spectators to "get something" special which saves the parents who paid the gate fee's a few bucks. this could make the difference in attendence, which makes a difference in media, which makes a difference in sponsorship levels......

Tee shirts are coming for those that ran all 4 events - 2 per team....

We did have stickers (at most events), you just had to ask for them, giving out 100 plus stickers at each event gets costly, the $75 per event goes to help us offset the cost of puttig on the event.
Fix the written rule to clarify two COMPLETE tires must cross the finish-line to match what is in the judge's vidoe and what was in the rules when we did the video.

Dayum....I know there's a number of things we always talk about at events...why can't I remember those small touches that will tighten things up???

John, we've done driver autograph tents and tables and such in the past and encouraged teams to take advantage of them, even jumping on the mic a bunch pimping them...unfortunatly, many are not thinking like you and are avoiding the fans in order to watch courses. It's that nature of the beast and it basically meant our efforts were wasted. Got any ideas to solve that???

I agree that it is all about the competitors stepping up and marketing themselfs Dustin. We can't rely on WE Rock to do everything for us. We need to make ourselfs available to the public and take advantage of their interest on their terms.
I have found that If I park my rig where it is accessable to people, all I have to do is sit next to it and people come to look and ask questions. Let their kids sit in it to take pictures and you got plenty of time to tell them all about your sponsors.
Plus there is nothing saying that you can't find the announcer and let him know that you are signing autographs. He'll be more than happy to let the crowd know.

Any other comments about rules?
I've been asleep at the wheel here. Let me post up for the stock mod guys. Get ready for the bitch session.
This is all I have so far:

I hate to beat a dead horse, but since you asked, mod stock shootout!
---------------------------------------
My response would not be just for "stock-mod" but I think the ruling is for all classes.

The way we-rock does the series points is dumb, IMO.

The way the series points are only given to series compeitors is dumb...lets say there are 10 competitors in a class, but only three running the entire series, if one of the series guys finishes 10th, he still gets series points for 3rd place....kinda dumb, when the guy that finished 1st still had to beat 9 people, but only gets "credit" for beating two.
----------------------------------------
Yes but at the same time if there are 10 competitors in the class but only 3 running the entire series and if the series guys finish 8th, 9th and 10th. They will get 1st, 2nd and 3rd place series points for that event.

Series guys are only competing against other series guys for series points....

The way they do the points for series is right....
------------------------------------------
But what if they finish 1st, 9th and 10th?? The first place guy worked harder to get the place, shouldn't he get credit for whooping everyone else??
------------------------------------------
He finished first for the event against 10 competitors for the event...

He finished first out of three guys running for series points at the event...

So if only three guys are running for series points didnt the other two finish second and third to the guy for series points at the event??

How can they finish 9th and 10th for series points if only 3 are competing for the series????
Great job, all great convos, keep them coming!
