OK, so there is a trail ride tomorrow and im out of time. The exhaust manifold on my Scout is leaking at the head. Anyone with an International can tell you how the parts are never behind the counter.

Has anyone ever used this exhaust putty/sealant crap you see at the parts houses? I need a quick temporary fix just to get my through a few hours of wheeling. Im getting some wicked fumes in my cab, if i cant get the leak patched i'll just yank the doors.

Any tips on this matter? How long does this stuff take to cure/set?

Pull manifold, smear the shit out of old gasket with high temp orange RTV, reinstall, go wheeling. It's ghetto as all hell, but it'll work in a pinch.

Last time I had to buy IH exhaust gaskets they weren't hard to find. Every other old IH school bus, dump truck and wrecker around here has a 345 or 392 so Vatozone and OReillys stock the gaskets. They aren't special order. Might as well fix it right if you have the manifold off.
