Just bought a 4x8 utility trailer and want to use expanded steel for the decking. Looking to carry a maximum of about 1000lbs. Was considering this: Expanded Metal Flat, 3/4" x 9gauge. Is 9 gauge thick enough? Also should I be concerned about the "opening height" & "opening width" of the expanded steel.

Not looking for a discussion of the wood v. steel decking debate. Thanks

Thanks for the responses guys. 9 gauge may be a little overkill but should work (I can get a deal on the 9 gauge). The span is only about 2'.

9 gauge is heavy duty shit. for 1000 lbs it will be fine. at worst it just sags a little between x members.
