Since I mounted my ram the steering is now very heavy at low speeds especially. I'm getting tires of nearly running into things as I fight to turn the wheel. I disconnected the ram - steering is much easier and the ram itself doesn't move until I hit full lock.

PS pump is a stock 98 Explorer 302 w/serpentine belt feeding a 87 YJ stock PS box.

I think my problem is lack of volume to push the box and the ram - is this correct? What options do I have to make this behave better?

Should a larger oil tank/deposit help?

What options do I have for a higher volume pump? Would prefer an option that keeps same mounting and belt setup.

are you restricted space wise in front of the motor?

if not consider swapping over to a late '80s ford E-150 van bracketry system. Doing this will allow you to stay serpentine, but you can bolt a saginaw pump in place of that POS ford pump using all factory ford parts.

problem solved.
