On my HDJ80 24v (-97) I have a 3 1/4" exhaust pipe going across the right side under the mainframe of the chassi. In this way this part of the pipe i extremely exposed and it decrease the ground clearance with about 4"-5".
Does any one have some ideas what is the best way to avoid this problem? I would like to lead the pipe in the shelter of the chassi and not exposed as now.

Peder,

I drive a fzj80 but had a problem very similar. This is what mine used to do, it came down form the manifold than lopped to the outside of the frame it had 2 cats on the outside of the frame then it lopped under the frame to a big muffler then it lopped back outside the frame to a little muffler.

It went from inside the frame rails to outside (2 cats) then back inside(1 big muffler) then back outside again to a little muffler.

I fixed it all to run in inside the frame rails the whole way back. I still had room for 2 cat and 1 small quiet muffler. There is enough room for a pipe between the frame and the tranny and t-case. It is a little close to the tranny and t-case but the exhaust will fever be touchable. the floor board does get hot (which is way Toyota did all that). You should be able to do the same thing on the diesel.

I hope that made sense to you,

Josh
