Ok, so, I hate my standard cab. I want a 4Runner. BUT, I love the '83's front end and cab. So I want to extend the cab. 1stGen Runner-style. With a removable canopy.

Yes, I am a weirdo.

...I haven't really done any fibreglass work (like this, anyways)...

...Is this going to be a huge challenge? Anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone done this, or thought about doing this?

Thanks, guys. It'll be about 4-5 months before I do this (we just got snow ), but I want to start planning for it.

If you look in some of the 2wd truck mag's like truckin, they sometimes have trucks that have caps on them and they cut out the back wall and weld the cab and bed together ( not that simple). You would have to fill the gap with sheet metal. For the roof they use an accordion rubber boot around were the rear windows were. You should be able to get the boot from any place that sells caps. Then you could use a jeep or sammy rear seat and have your removable rear top.

Thanks, Flimmy; and good points... I used to be into lowrider mini's (not something I should admit here )... Problem is they leak like a sieve. I want to try to make a canopy seal similar to that of the 4Runner's...

...Another problem is my bed is TOAST. Rusted to hell. So, it's gonna have to be custom.

I still don't know if I'll even do it, but this'll give me the best of both worlds.
