Going to be working on a friends '93 pathfinder. It's a 6cyl 5spd 2wd, with a nice grind into 2nd gear. I recently completed a trans replacement on my Passport(rodeo) but have never wrenched on a Nissan. So, questions:

What year range of truck/pathfinder will have a compatable trans?

Does the donor need to be 6cyl (30 spline)?

Is it possible / worth while to put new syncros in the existing trans?

If we came up with a 4x4 donor would everything swap over to convert his 2wd?

Look for a 2WD V6 Hardbody, much more common than the 2WD Pathfinder. Also, use GL-4 only, not GL-5. GL-5 has additives that will eat yellow metals.

So will the V6 4x4 trans and t-case swap in? Like if we wanted to SAS the front?

Thanks for the info!

A couple people have done it over at NPORA (Nissanpathfinders.net) but didn't go the SAS route. Actually, the owner of Ruggedrocks.com may have had a 2WD that is now SAS, but I can't remember at he moment.

Yes it should. I am not sure if the crossmembers are the same. I am also not sure if the clutch and flywheel are the same. But should be easy to get those from a donor vehicle and you will have to do something custom for the trans crossmember anyways if you SAS it.
