wow, you putting a stinger on that or something? That steering box is really far out front:eek:

Everything else looks good though:D
I must have looked at it for hours.
The thing is, I am trying to get the most out of
my wheelbase.

I don't really like having the steering that far out
but what else is there besides moving it back to
the near stock location.

I don't think a shorty pitman arm is worth it.:)

Not trailer Queen yet.
Even with full hydro, the PS box is
sticking out like morning wood.

I looked at the forward facing box ie: FJ60 excreta, excreta, excreta.
no worky for moving the axel way up.

Perhaps I can build cage for it. Dag nabit thing anyway.
You can put the steering valve where ever you want it!

It doesnt have to stick way out...here in the pick you can see where i put mine....that is closer to the firewall that what the stock steering box was located..................I have a 100" wheelbase too

:D

Go here for some inventive ideas for steering box placement......

 :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

Seriously though, why don´t you want to consider a shorter pitman?? It looks like there would be a couple of inches to be gained.

Personally, I think I would actually prefer a shorter pitman. It would make the steering that much slower and easier on the arms as well.

Then again, maybe I´m full of shite........:p

Hey Jones, hows your junk? Send me an email.

I don't have a wheelbase goal.
What I am really after is to get the front axel forward as much as I can.

Like this

It sits at 97 with the box were it is now.

I have no intention of cutting the rear, it's mint, but I will trim a bit.

I may be able to move the box back some, but that will mean the drag link
will not be parallel with the tie rod, I suppose this will work as long as
no binding occurs.

Thanks for the help Shane :)
Edit: and billj, and any one else.

The drag link and tie rod need to be as parallel as possible in the vertical plane to minimize bumpsteer. In the horizontal plane, it makes little difference, as long as it´s not way out of hand.......

One thing you may think about is running your steering box forward, with the arm in the oppisite direction, and the tie rod behind the axle, with the hi-steer arms mounted backwards (i dont know if they will bolt up, but you can get them custom made). If you look at the toyota from www.rockstomper.com he mounted his in that setup.. if you email him, he may be able to help him out.

Ok! I have changed my tune.

I want a short pitman arm to fit this
IFS box.

I know O.T.T sold them at one time, but I cant find it on their web site.

Does anyone have one to sell me.

I did a search and came up with stuff on flat pitman arms
not short ones.

Could someone please tell me how much longer the OTT one is
verses the stock IFS one ?

Thanks:)

I was wondering the same thing? Were can I get a shorter pitman are for an I F Box. I have the same problem bigfrank does. and need only need one about an inch shorter. I thought about getting it cut and welded but that doesn't and probably will never sit right with me.
