Howdy y'all. I'm a newbie here with a newbie question:

Other than the 3" width gain, what the difference between FJ40 axles and FJ60 axles, that has some folks desiring FJ60 swaps into their FJ40 Landcruiser?

The reason I ask is because I just bought a 1982 FJ40 Landcruiser which came with an extra set of axles, being FJ60 axles that the prior previous owner had intended to swap in. Just my casual observations; I don't see any noticeable difference between the FJ40 axles and the FJ60 axles.

My FJ40 also came with two uninstalled ARB lockers (RD153) still in their boxes, and the previous owner claims they will fit in either FJ40 or FJ60 axles... So if that's true, I need y'all to tell me which axles I want under my Landcruiser, so I can start making plans for the locker installs.

Size of shafts? U joints or birfields?? Sizes of each? Bearing sizes? Housing thickness?
Things I'd considered looking at ..
I know nothing of FJs axles, so no definitive answers from me , but I'm pretty sure those would be factors making them more desirable, aside from the added width.
