I've already looked at sleeoffroad, but I was thinking of something more extreme than a coil spacer and a 50mm taller coil. Any writeups out there? Oh ya, do you have any more pics of your FJ-40 without the cage on? It looks awesome that way.
Is this not extreme enough? This is the guy who builds the stuff for Sleeoffroad. He runs OME springs, 5 inch spacers and Rancho 9012's.
Works and works well.
There is a guy in my Club that runs OME + 3 inch Slee spacers and he runs 38's.
There was a guy in Moab that had some custom coils made so he did not have to use spacers. The springs were aweful! They had not had the spring load testing that you will get with an OME spring and they caused aweful body roll and poor high speed dampening.
I ran 1.5" spacers on OME springs and ran 35"s with no problems.
Anything much higher and I would not have liked the way it handled. It is a heavy vehicle and you are better served keeping the center of gravity as low as possible.
BTW, that "non-extreme" 50mm spring w/3" spacer truck from my club went up Slickrock, Hellicopter Pad, Lower and Upper 2 and School Bus this year at GSMTR. <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0">
The only way you will get anything more "extreme" is to go to a coil spring shop and have some custom made for your application.
