How strong do you think a fj80 axle is compared to a 60 35 spline. The new longfield axles are almost there. The 80s are way bigger but I don't know the strength. I had Bobby cryo them but he doesn't put a ring on them. Whar about spare parts?

A stock FJ80 axle is allegendly as strong as a stock Dana 60. A Dana 60 is heavier and bigger, but can be made MUCH stronger than any FJ80 axle could ever be because of the great aftermarket parts support. Just my opinion.

Axle strength isn't the problem with 80 axles. It would still be the birfs. Then if you reinforce the birfs you will be looking to the pinion. Remember the front is a smaller high pinion unit. Depending upon how much tire you want to run, you could be looking at steering or knuckle issues too. You need to ask yourself how much strength do I need? How much weight do I want to pack around? And how much do I want to spend? Does it make sense to spend more for a built up 80 axle vs. going to a Dana 60?
