This winter I'm planning to go SOA on my 47 CJ 2A. Currently spring under with shackle reversal in front. Stock frame with a Dana 30 narrow track and a offset 44 rear. I want to go SOA but, want other SOA Flatfender opinions as to what you did and why. Also how much axle wrap do you have and what did you do to solve it. I'm running a 302 small block and a automatic so it has some power to deal with. Thanks, Mike

46 2A, 289, waggy 44s, Wrangler SOA, 36"sxs. I am building a traction bar right now because of too much spring wrap. I did not do a shackle reversal, just because I didn't want too. It drives great on and off the road.

Nice Jason!! Did you use Wrangler 6 leaf rears all around?? I've heard of that set up. I haven't measured the length of stock 2A springs versus Wranglers. How far forward did you have to put your shackles? Thanks.

I used 5 leaf front and 4 leaf back, straight off a stock Wrangler. I had to extend the front frame rails about 4" and put the hanger all the way at the end.

I've got a 47 2a with a 289 and a 44 rear and a 30 front. Im considering doing a spring over as well but i didn't really know much about doing it. How did you go about extending the frame rails 4 inches? What happened in the rear? ive heard that wrangler springs are different depending on if its a 4 or 6 cyl soft/hard top. do you know anything about that? whats a good price for wrangler springs and what years are the best ones to get? if anyone can help me out id appreciate it.

I am running the 289 and 44\30 combo in my '42, I have early model 9 leave packs. I am also thinking of this winter trying to use 1" or 2" lift springs!

46-2A, SOA, REVERSE SHACKLE, 80", 4.3L INJECTED, 2" BODY LIFT. I USED THE REAR 2A SPRINGS FOR THE FRONT, AND 5A SPRINGS FOR THE REAR. DIDN'T WANT WIDER SPRINGS BECAUSE THE 33'S HIT THE FRAME. HAD A SMALL PROBLEM WITH A LITTLE WRAP, BUT I FIRMED UP THE 9000'S. HAVN'T TAKEN IT TO PISMO YET TO CHECK ON THE UNDER FULL POWER DEAL. DIVES GOOD ON THE ROAD, BUT I THINK THE REVERSE SHACKLE TOOK CARE OF SOME OF THE WANDERING PROBLEMS.

I first ran stock wrangler rear srings with shackle reversal in the front and 2" cj5 rear springs in the rear on 35 boggers. Had major spring wrap both front and rear, built two rear tracion bars for the rear and got a 13" slip front drive line from high angle for the front. Having the shackle reversal in the front pulls the front drive line out when backing down hills(side note, my first front driveline had 8" slip but came close to bottoming out and still pulled out). Just finishing upgrading to full width and running 2" procomp wrangler srings up front and procomp wrangler coil convertion rear springs with 38.5's Haven't wheeled it yet.
I forgot to say that I also run a 300hp 302 t18 and 300t/c with a 60 rear and a 44 front.

Badfish, that looks pretty killer. What did you get the wheel base stretched too?

I guess I could add that I ran my stock springs and axles SOA for a year and they really weren't that bad. I ended up breaking a couple rear axle shafts in the rear so decided to upgrade F& R and springs all at the same time. I do enjoy the extra width too.

Iam spring over with 1 inch lift springs, shackle reversed, buick V6 198, SM420, 5.38 gears, scout width D44s, 36" swampers, detroit in the rear and power lock in the front(arb on the way), tons of spring wrap - working on a traction bar. snapped both rear leafs once at the U bolt plates. I get tons of flex. The shackle reversal helped on road driving a lot. I want to upgrade to the wrangler springs.
