I test fit my flipped D300 last night and it seems to be working out great. I know it's not an Atlas but it cost a hell of a lot less.

Everything seemed to bolt up as promised. I had to cut a bit of floor because my raised driveline put it's vent fitting up into the floor. Also my driveline is a bit shorter then stock so the shifter hole didn't line up as good as it could have.

The kit worked great, it included everything and had good instructions. There are a couple of things I may do different if I ever do it again but on the whole it went together very easy. I think it is a big improvement over a 231 or other NP case. I now have a shorter driveline, real 2 low, twin sticks, iron case and all gears and I can get a cheaper 4:1 kit.

FWIW, I don't really thingk the 231 is *that* weak but I think I was pushing it a little to hard, I was having problems with the planetary gears and chain stretch.

I will post some pics as soon as I can find the damn cable for the digi-cam

Now all I have to do is get rid of this pounding headache and get motivated enough to go measure for drive shafts and get on the phone.....I think I'm allergic to

DUH

Including the D300 from a junk yard but not the new drive shafts I eeked in at just under 800 bucks

Not cheap compared to just doing a SYE but I think the extras make up for it. Plus I'm building up a new rig so I was going to have to have new shafts made anyway.

I thought long and hard about an Atlas but even if I buy a 4:1 set (prefer a underdrive anyway) for the 300 I'm still well under the cost of the Atlas.

Hey Dug, I found some heavy ass axles if you're looking to get rid of your thirty and 35. Email me for details or check the Great lakes page.
