Just finished up my install of the Ford shock towers, and 5036 Ranchos.

Here's what I did:

Bought four Ford shock towers part number E5TZ18183A $11.60 list each at the local Ford dealership. (The other two are for the rear say tuned, it should be done tomorrow.)

Bought 4 rancho RS 5036 shocks from summit. About $37-$38.00 a piece.

Notice they will angle out if the original Ford holes are used. This will not work with the steering column as it is in the way. The simple solution would be to move them back on the frame, but the frame is sloping and dimpled so they won't sit flat.

The solution is to cut off the bottom of the mount so it is square:

Next, I clamped them on the frame and measured travel. I went for 6" of uptravel and 9" of down travel. I then drilled one hole in them that mounted through the original upper shock mount hole in the frame.

After this was done I mounted the shock and twisted the mount where it would be parallel to the shock body. I then tightened that bolt down and drilled three more holes in it that are seen above.

After you have 4 holes drilled in it you have this:

And while you've got the factory mounts off you may find some of these:

I'm sure these won't be the last frame cracks I fix. I simply drilled a hole in the end of the crack, notched the crack with an angle grinder, and welded the crack.
