yea i know, i got rid of a really cool and unique F-350 to get this jeep that needs a lot of attention. i'm not gonna really get into why i got rid of the truck other than, i lost sight of my finished product and went full retard on a truck build.

so this brings me to the jeep im fixing up to go wheeling and camping in. (it may or may not be for sale when i'm done)

current specs of this baby in the dumpster (diamond in the rough)

- 2006 Rubicon with 20,000 miles.
- 5.13 gears and detroits front and rear
- Ten Factory chromoly shafts front and rear
- 37"x12.50 x 15.00 Irok radials
- mastercraft racing seats
- XRC front and rear bumpers
- Warn 9500 winch it has an aircompressor built into it? idk
- Rubicon express long arm lift

*Plans for this include and are limited to the following
- triangulate the upper rear control arms to eliminate the rear track bar.
- get rid of the stupid radius arm setup up front for a 3 link
- replace all axle brackets with 1/4" steel brackets (hate the goddam factory sheetmetal bullshit brackets)
- sleeve the front axle tubes with .25" dom
- gusset the front inner C's with artecs D30 inner C gussets
- get the new tub painted this summer and get it swapped before october 2013
- the last rule and most important of all for this build/rebuild; keep it simple and have fun doing it.

the tub on the jeep is pretty much trash so i picked up a new (to me) tub with zero dents and in need of paint.

how i got it. dirty and busted... kindof depressing but it gets better.

my sister was washing it for a minute but i forgot to take a pic for you pervs.

all clean, kinda lol.

phase 1

after i got the jeep cleaned up and assessed the damage, i made a list of items to put on order.

the RE lift was in need of some TLC as far as bushings were concerned so i made an order for all new flex joints and bushings.

all of the factory brackets were also noted of their lack of support, so those were also put on order.

progress is progress..

earlier i made mention of getting rid of the radius arm setup for a 3 link in the front.
in the following picture you will see the UCA mount missing on the passenger side. if you actually wheel your jeep hard with that shitty sheet metal mount, you will bend and tear it off the axle. that is the case with mine. it was wheeled and it bent and ripped off.

all is well with the front end

Phase 1

i am still waiting on the brackets and RE bushings to come in the mail, so i got to work with stripping the rear axle down and relocating the coil mounts in the mean time..

i still need to make the sway bar brackets, shock brackets and weld on the UCA and LCA brackets when they come.

that is about all i have for now. don't flame too much :flipoff2:

RE sells a little bracket kit to convert the upper rear frame mounts to triangulated, they make that end quick and easy. I always weld them in.

Those axles are a little soft in the tube department, sleeve them. Make sure the upper ball joint is pointing directly at the center of the lower ball joint. If it doesn't the inner C is already bent.

Clayton makes a nice set of brackets that are flush with the bottom of the axle tube and setup easy.

Be quicker with the camera next time your sister is near it. :flipoff2:

edit: that is a funny looking locker in the front axle for a Rubicon.

i think it's a detroit or "detroit" style locker front and rear.

i am going to sleeve the front tubes with 2"x.25" tube, but can you even sleeve the rear, without cutting them apart?

the C's dont appear to be bent in the case you mentioned. neither do the axle tubes.

edit: and if anyone has any great ideas on how to cut the welds on the inside of the frame for the rear coil buckets i am all ears.

Hhhhheyyyyy WTF, don't we get any updates?:shaking:
You did say "don't flame too much".:D
About that frame bracket, use your torch and cut it off and make or replace w/ new (oem) part.

Second thought, since you are the fabextrordinaire you should just go and build yourself a tube frame. You already have a bender, and the pattern.
After reading thru your last project, you'll want to do it sooner or later anyways.
You're not going to put a nice body on a shitty, bent, twisted old frame are ya?:stirthepot::laughing:
